Twentieth of June Two Thousand and Nineteen

L 'Abbaye de Talloires / Annecy / France

Our Story

Welcome to LakeAnnecy

We are excited beyond words to welcome you to Annecy, in particular the magical bay of Talloires. When we discovered this perfect little bay we couldn't believe we'd be lucky enough to share it with all those that mean most to us. We fell in love with Annecy after our engagement in Meribel.  After that we took a weekend visit to Talloires and we were totally sold, our story continued to write itself...

The Venue

The Venue

L'Abbaye De Talloires is steeped in a 1000 years of history, in 1018 Monks took up residence and built their own cells and formed the embryo of a small monastery. In the 17th century the abbey was twice destroyed by fire. Reconstruction of the actual building was finished 1681. After the French revolution the monastery became a wine making company and in 1840 horse stables. It wasn't until 1862 it became an Inn and the first hotel restaurant on the banks of Lake Annecy.
Today you can still admire the cloister and the Grand Gallery with it's doors to the monk's ancient cells.

There are two restaurants, fine dining with the Aux Jardins des Délices gourmet restaurant and La Table de Cézanne brasserie-restaurant open for lunch during summer. The historical wine cellar is filled with hidden treasures and was awarded 1st prize for the Best wine list in France in the category of Fine dining restaurants 2017.

All Rooms and suites offer something different, the dowdy chic decor is perfectly sympathetic to L'Abbaye's long history. There is also a cosy and welcoming Spa on the top floor, a vaulted Cellar bar for romantic evenings and late night drinking. Finally stretched along the waters edge is the decked pontoon equipped with an abundance of sunbeds where you can escape the world.

Where to Stay

We have put together a little collection of hotels that are all within walking distance of the venue. However there are also lots of Airbnb options as well as holiday letting sites if you would rather a self catered option.

Hotel Du Lac

***

This is a great location for the price, its only a 3 minute walk from the venue. This is one of the few that has its own pool.

Beau Site

***

This really should be a 4 star after it's recent huge refurbishment. Craig and I have stayed here and would be our top recommendation! They have a private beach onto the cleanest lake in Europe.

Le Cottage Bise

****

A modern take on a beautiful alpine chalet. Le Cottage Bise is the next door neighbour to L'Abbaye,  literally a stones throw away. Situated right at the front of Talloires Bay, you can enjoy the Eugrnie Spa or if the lake isn't enough water for you, you can also take a dip in the pool.

La-Charpenterie

***

Located in the heart of the village and its shops, just 3 minutes walk from the venue. Has fantastic views across the late and Savoy Mountains

La Villades Fleurs

***

This is just a small little hotel, it only opens in May so you will need to book early this summer to ensure one of the four rooms.

Auberge Pere Bise

*****

This is the Ritz of Tallories, right on the lake, complete with a famous Chef and at least 2 super cars parked outside at all times. For those looking to really make a real treat out of it, this is without doubt the place! It is also only a 90 second walk from the wedding venue.

ACCOMODATION

The closest airport to Annecy is Geneva served by a variety of main UK airlines.

From Geneva it is a 50 minute drive to L’Abbaye de Talloires.  We advise that hiring a car, arranging a transfer or catching a taxi is the quickest and most direct form of transport available.

T H E   A R E A

Annecy is a beautiful and historic city situated at the top of the lake, with the little picturesque village of Talloires a 20 minutes drive down the east side, nestled into a magnifcent turquoise bay.

If you are looking to make a holiday out of the trip, then Annecy itself is a small but vibrant city packed with Savoyard Culture and all the culinary delights. There is a plethora of accommodation, however our recommendation would be to stay in or close to the old town.
